Saving Christmas in the Village
If you have ever wandered through Blackheath Village at Christmas time, you will, without a doubt, have been romanced by the wonderful festive feeling that the Christmas lights bring.
Since 1983, the charming coloured lights, hung throughout the village, have shed festive cheer upon all those who live, work and shop in Blackheath.
Last year over £21,000 pounds was raised from thousands of
people and local businesses who helped purchase new energy efficient, multi-coloured
LED lights which are draped along the frontage of shops. The new Blackheath Lights
now have the best carbon footprint available with current technology and this
year’s goal is to take the lights across roads in the village. But, in
order to achieve this we need raise the same amount of money.
This year the lights will be turned on by local resident and
LBC’s Breakfast Show host, Nick Ferrari on Saturday, 6th December at
4.30pm. Come to the village to see and enjoy the 25th anniversary of
the Blackheath Lights. To help them continue, please make a donation on line or
send a cheque to: Heath Estates, 23 Montpelier
Vale, SE3 PTJ or Sisters and Daughters, 18 Tranquil Vale SE3 OAX. Cheques
should be made payable to Blackheath Lights Ltd. Donation boxes can be found in
many of the retail outlets in Blackheath
Village.
